The narration techniques and ingenuity in The Women’s City, Lamine Saidi’s novel .
The reader from the very beginning of the novel is unexpectedly amazed by the swinging and complexity of events.Actually, Abdulatif ‘s murder was committed by Maamoun who got news from Abuda about Abdulatif ‘s mockery at Nawa, the woman who had passed away after the collapse of the wall. All these intricate events occur from the start of section one where they are overlapped and the characters pluralized. The novelist skilfully makes them confront one another for the sake of being heroes. Thus,we don’t know who is the true hero in the novel, for instance, Safouan seems to be a major character at the very beginning and involved in most events becomes so minor at the presence of Abuda and his wife Rabab that we could hardly distinguish the new characters from each other and
determine who is really the hero since the events are so overlapped and deadlocked that the reader thinks the climax is going to be a total chaos.Yet, the narrator suddenly shocks him thanks to his distinctive style of persuasion and thus the events’denouement satisfies the readers for Lamine Saidi perfectly persuades you of the harmonious aspect of paradoxical acts, and this is a distinctive feature of the novelist.
The Women’s City is one of the most contemporary Arab literary works which is characterized by its intense plot,curiosity-rising style and clear cut with the classical boring approach of narration that is based on a trio discipline.
Furthermore, the narrator in The Women’s City is multiplied since there is a variety of opinions and voices.Indeed, the goodness and evil in Man and groups are in Man and natural life rules.
The Women’s City is an ingenuity in narration and a skilfulness in plot.Beyond that,it is a triumph of human virtues unveiling the ugliness of real life and seeking solutions
The Women’s City is the culmination of Lamine Saidi ‘s career of a novelist who’s recently achieved wide success thanks to his intense brightness in this literary genre.
